The Valencian Terrier, known in Spanish as the Gos Rater Valencià, is an ancient breed native to the Valencia region of Spain, with roots tracing back to the terrier-type dogs brought by English traders and travelers during the 18th and 19th centuries. It is a lively, affectionate, and alert dog that is devoted to its family and possesses a spirited, curious nature. The breed was developed as a skilled rat-catcher, used extensively on farms, in homes, and aboard ships to control rodent populations throughout the coastal regions of Spain.
