The Polish Hound, known as the Ogar Polski, is an ancient scenthound breed native to Poland, with records of similar dogs dating back to the Middle Ages when they were favored by Polish nobility for hunting. It is a loyal, gentle, and even-tempered dog that is devoted to its family, though it possesses the determination and independence typical of hunting hounds when on a scent trail. The breed was developed to track and pursue large game such as deer and boar through the dense forests and varied terrain of Poland, valued for its powerful nose and resonant voice.
