The Kintamani is an ancient breed native to the highlands of Bali, Indonesia, particularly the Kintamani region near Mount Batur, where it has existed in relative isolation for centuries. It is an independent, alert, and dignified dog that is loyal to its family but characteristically aloof and cautious around strangers, reflecting its semi-wild heritage. This breed developed naturally among Balinese village communities, where it served as a watchdog and companion, and is considered a symbol of national cultural heritage in Indonesia.
