The Akbash is an ancient Turkish livestock guardian breed originating from the western regions of Turkey, with a history spanning over 3,000 years. They are calm, independent, and deeply protective dogs that are instinctively wary of strangers while being devoted to the animals and people in their charge. This breed was developed specifically to guard flocks of sheep and other livestock from predators including wolves and bears without direction from a human handler.
