Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is believed to have originated in Mexico, descended from the ancient Techichi dog kept by the Toltec civilization, with the modern breed developed in the Mexican state of Chihuahua in the 19th century. It is a bold, loyal, and spirited breed with a larger-than-life personality, forming intensely close bonds with its owners while often being wary of strangers. Although now purely a companion breed, its ancestors may have had ceremonial and religious significance for pre-Columbian Mesoamerican cultures.
