The Griffon Bleu de Gascogne is a rare French scent hound with ancient origins in the Gascony region of southwestern France, descended from the old Blue Gascony hounds crossed with wire-coated griffon breeds. It is an enthusiastic, tenacious, and sociable dog that works with great passion in the field and is amiable and gentle in the home. This breed was developed to hunt small game, particularly hare, using its powerful nose across varied and often dense terrain.
