Podenco Andaluz

The Podenco Andaluz is an ancient primitive breed from the Andalusia region of southern Spain, believed to share lineage with ancient Egyptian hunting dogs brought to the Iberian Peninsula thousands of years ago. It is an intelligent, sensitive, and affectionate dog that bonds closely with its family, though it can be reserved with strangers and retains strong instinctive hunting behaviors. The breed was developed as a versatile hunting dog used to pursue rabbits and hare across the diverse and often rugged landscapes of southern Spain.
