The St. Hubert Jura Hound is an ancient Swiss scenthound originating from the Jura Mountains region, believed to descend from hounds brought by monks of the St. Hubert Abbey and related old Belgian and French scent hound stock. It is determined, passionate on the trail, and good-natured, forming a loyal and cooperative working partnership with hunters. This breed was developed for tracking large game such as deer and wild boar through the dense and rugged mountain terrain of the Swiss Jura region.
