The Alopekis is an ancient miniature dog breed originating in ancient Greece, documented as far back as the 5th century BCE in Greek art, literature, and artifacts. They were described as small, smooth-coated, lively, and affectionate companion dogs that were beloved by Greek and later Roman aristocracy. This tiny breed was kept primarily as a lap companion and household pet, representing one of the earliest known purpose-bred companion dog types in recorded history.
