Australian Kelpie

The Australian Kelpie was developed in Australia during the late 19th century, primarily from collies imported from Scotland that were selectively bred to suit the harsh Australian outback conditions. They are highly intelligent, energetic, fiercely independent, and intensely loyal working dogs with an extraordinary stamina and drive. Bred to herd sheep and cattle across the vast and hot Australian terrain with minimal supervision from their handlers.
