The Ca de Conills is a rare primitive hunting breed native to the Balearic Islands of Spain, particularly Mallorca, and is believed to be descended from ancient hounds brought to the Mediterranean by Phoenician traders. It is an agile, alert, and independent dog with sharp senses and a strong prey drive suited to the island's rugged terrain. As its name suggests, which translates to rabbit dog, the breed was developed specifically to hunt rabbits using sight, scent, and hearing in the rocky Mediterranean landscape.
